Types of Denim

There are several types of denim, each with unique characteristics and properties. Some of the most common types of denim include:

1. Raw Denim

Rawn denim has not been pre-washed or treated. It is typically stiff and rigid when new but will soften and mould to the wearer’s body over time. Read more on this type of denim with our article: What is Raw Denim?

2. Selvedge Denim

Selvedge denim is made using a specific loom that creates a clean, finished edge on the fabric. Selvedge denim is considered higher quality and is often sought after by denim enthusiasts.

Types of Denim FAQ

Raw denim is the best. From the quality of the denim to how it works around your body in time and how long it lasts when you treat it well.

Denim is a type of cotton twill textile. Twill is a textile weave with a diagonal pattern, as opposed to a plain or satin weave. Denim is made from cotton yarns that are tightly woven together, which makes it a durable and hard-wearing fabric. The yarns can be dyed differently, but denim is most commonly associated with blue hues.
