Ace Marks Travel Derby Review

this is a photo of the Ace Marks travel derby review for tall men size fourteen

These are the Travel Derby in Cuoio Buffalo from Ace Marks. I am wearing size 14, and they come up to size 15.

As someone with larger feet, my shoe options were limited to trainers and basketball shoes during my teenage years. This preference for comfort over style created a mental barrier towards dress shoes.

I couldn’t picture myself in clothes other than jeans and sweatshirts, which went with the trainers I always wore.

But I am 39 now, and I have realized I need to dress my age more. Also, I have felt a natural attraction towards dress pants, shirts, and an overall cleaner aesthetic.

My decision to purchase these Travel Derby shoes was a game-changer. They have exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, style, and versatility.

I chose these shoes to help me achieve a more consistent look with more style. They are made from buffalo leather that doesn’t wrinkle when compressed. That means I can wear them on my regular day and take them with me on all trips without worrying about taking excess room in my luggage.

The shoe leather is very comfortable, and I haven’t had any issues breaking them in. The soft leather has made the break-in time non-existent.

I suggest making sure you have a good pair or two of pants ready if you’re also looking to step up your footwear. I recently had two pairs of chinos made, and the combination of these two has allowed me to transition easily into this new look.

How to take care of your Travel Derby shoes

Taking care of your Travel Derby shoes will not only keep them looking stylish but it will also help make them last a lot longer than if you didn’t. Follow these simple rules in caring for your boots from Ace Marks.

  • Insert Shoe Trees in between wears
  • Brush with horse hair brush after each use
  • Brush with dauber on the edge where outsole meets upper after each use.
  • Whenever possible, try to rotate your shoes throughout the week to give your shoe at least 24 hours to recover from the previous wear.
  • If your shoes are wet, or if you notice some moisture inside the shoe, stuff your shoe with some newspaper to absorb the moisture. Allow to fully dry before wearing again.
  • Applying shoe polish every 9-10 wears

Travel Derby styling tips

Fellas it is very hard to go wrong with these Travel Derby shoes! Where I want you to focus is not the look, but more the cut of the clothes you wear with it.

The biggest challenge I found when wanting to level up, is that my entire wardrobe didn’t match the shoes I had bought to look more mature. So, be sure to invest in a pair of pants that work with the shoes before you decide they aren’t for you.

I have put together a simple but clean look of these tailor made blue chinos with a tucked in Moreno Wool t-shirt from Son Of A Tailor.
